Job summary

St Helens & Knowsley Colleges seeks a Deputy Head of School for Maths to lead curriculum strategy and day-to-day management across its St Helens Town Centre and Knowsley campuses. The role combines strategic oversight with hands-on leadership to drive outstanding teaching, learning and student achievement.

The successful candidate will join the College Management Team and help shape an ambitious, inclusive learning environment, focusing on curriculum development, staff performance, safeguarding

Qualifications

• Recognised teaching and/or assessor qualification.
• Experience of teaching and/or assessment within FE or secondary education.
• Experience of leadership and/or staff management.
• Proven ability to motivate, develop and support teams to achieve outstanding results.
• Strong track record of delivering excellent teaching, learning and assessment.
• Experience of quality improvement and performance monitoring.
• Excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.
• Commitment to safeguarding, wellbeing and enhancing the student experience.

Responsibilities

• Support the Head of School in strategic and operational management of the Maths curriculum area.
• Lead and support staff to deliver outstanding teaching, learning and assessment.
• Monitor and improve key performance indicators, including attendance and achievement.
• Support quality assurance activities, including lesson observations and quality improvement planning.
• Coach and performance-manage staff to develop excellence in practice.
• Contribute to curriculum planning, development and innovation to meet learner and employer needs.
• Foster collaboration and share best practice across campuses.
• Develop strong relations with employers and external stakeholders to enhance learner opportunities.
