Job summary

St Helens & Knowsley Colleges is seeking a Deputy Head of School for Maths to lead teaching, learning and student achievement across our St Helens and Knowsley campuses. This multi-site role requires travel between campuses and an annual teaching commitment of 648 hours.

The successful candidate will hold a recognised teaching/assessor qualification and have leadership experience, with a track record of improving performance, safeguarding and student outcomes.

Qualifications

• Recognised teaching and/or assessor qualification.
• Experience of teaching and/or assessment within FE or secondary education.
• Experience of leadership and staff management.
• Proven ability to motivate, develop and support teams to achieve outstanding results.
• Strong track record of delivering high-quality teaching, learning and assessment.
• Experience of quality improvement and performance monitoring.
• Excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.
• Commitment to safeguarding, wellbeing and enhancing the student experience.

Responsibilities

• Support the Head of School in strategic and operational management of the curriculum area.
• Lead and support staff to deliver outstanding teaching, learning and assessment.
• Monitor and improve key performance indicators including attendance, retention, achievement and progression.
• Support quality assurance and quality improvement activities (observations, self-assessment, planning).
• Coach, develop and performance manage staff and support CPD.
• Contribute to curriculum planning, development and innovation to meet learner and funding needs.
• Foster collaboration and share best practice across teams and external partners.
• Manage resources, timetables and cross-campus coordination.
