Job summary

Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust is seeking a proactive Lead Pharmacy Assistant to step into the Deputy Dispensary Manager role at Worcestershire Royal Hospital. You will oversee the dispensary team, mentor staff and drive service improvements while ensuring safe, accurate dispensing and efficient operations.

The position requires a strong background in hospital pharmacy, supervisory experience and a commitment to patient care.

Qualifications

GCSE (or equivalent) grade C/4 or above in Maths, Science and English (all 3 are required)
Level 2 in pharmacy technical services (previously NVQ Level 2) or equivalent.
Supervisory or team leadership course

Responsibilities

Assist and deputise for the Dispensary Manager in managing operational activities of the pharmacy dispensary.
Provide operational leadership to ensure safe, accurate dispensing and distribution of medicines to service users.
Ensure storage, security and supply of all medications comply with legal requirements and SOPs.
Assist with staff training and contribute to staff development dashboards and training records.
Develop dispensary services with Ward Lead Pharmacists and Stores/Distribution teams.
Ensure compliance with SOPs and national policies within the directorate governance framework.
Support performance management and quality audits to ensure high standards and risk management.
Act as a role model and liaise with staff to provide high quality patient care.
