About the Role
We are seeking a strategic leader to manage our specialist operational teams within the Environmental Markets & Regulation (EM&R) unit. You will work with government, industry, and regulators to uphold operational standards, provide technical regulatory guidance, and ensure effective delivery of our services with national and international impact.
Your leadership will foster health, safety, wellbeing, diversity, and inclusion, while your strategic thinking will connect operational practices with the agency’s broader goals. You will contribute to the wider organization through active participation in leadership teams and by nurturing cross-departmental relationships.
Team Overview
EM&R, part of the National Regulation & Monitoring (NRM) division, currently comprises five teams overseeing various market sectors, including waste, climate, chemicals, and hazardous materials. With around 550 staff and growing, we collaborate closely with other parts of the agency, government, and industry.
Key Requirements
The role demands autonomy, strategic translation of policy into impactful delivery, and trust-building across complex political and regulatory environments. A professional qualification in any discipline is preferred.
Additional Information
This role involves incident response responsibilities and requires flexibility to respond to emergencies, with full training provided. You will lead remote teams across the country, championing diversity and inclusion.
