Job summary

The Methodist Church in Britain is seeking a senior operational leader to drive improvements in unplanned care and crisis services within a fixed-term six-month post, with possible extension. Responsibilities

• Provide senior operational leadership to corporate and urgent care services on behalf of the COO.
• Lead the Trust's unplanned care and crisis improvement across the organisation.
• Deputise for the Chief Operating Officer as required.
• Oversee mental health crisis strategy, including liaison, patient flow and 111 for mental health.
• Collaborate with police and NWAS partners on Right Care Right Person.
• Ensure governance, risk management, health and safety, emergency planning and information governance.
• Maintain high standards of safety and quality across services.
• Deliver strategic plans and performance against KPIs for mental health crisis and urgent care.

Job description

A fixed-term post for six months, with possible extension, at senior leadership level in the Trust's unplanned care and crisis services. It centres on service improvement and performance across urgent care and mental health crisis, deputising for the Chief Operating Officer. Distinct elements include mental health liaison and patient flow, 111 for mental health, and Right Care Right Person with police and NWAS partners; the work is hybrid. Fit rests on a senior operational track record in complex healthcare and a masters-level or equivalent education.

What the job involves

• Promote the Trust's vision, strategic aims, values and culture, and act as a role model for them
• Provide senior operational leadership and management to corporate and urgent care services on behalf of the Chief Operating Officer
• Take the corporate lead on improving unplanned care and crisis across the Trust, deputising for the Chief Operating Officer
• Lead the Trust's mental health crisis strategy, including liaison, patient flow, discharge and 111 for mental health
• Implement and oversee Right Care Right Person with Greater Manchester Police and NWAS
• Ensure governance arrangements are in place, including risk management, health and safety, emergency planning, business continuity and information governance
• Maintain high standards of safety and quality
• Implement strategic deliverables across mental health crisis and urgent care, developing service strategies and improvement plans
• Lead service development and embed continuous quality improvement and learning across all services
• Deliver improvement against local and national planned care KPIs
• Work alongside the Deputy Medical Director and Deputy Chief Nurse
