Job summary

South West Regional Assessment Centre is seeking a Deputy Centre Manager to support daily operations, learner welfare and safeguarding. You will deputise for the Centre Manager, oversee teaching and staff development, and contribute to quality improvement across programmes.

The role focuses on maintaining a positive learning culture, coordinating resources, and ensuring compliance with safeguarding and health & safety practices. DBS checks apply.

Qualifications

• Experience leading educational teams in a centre or school setting.
• Strong safeguarding knowledge and DBS checks.
• Ability to support teaching and learning across programmes.
• Experience mentoring tutors and coordinating staff development.

Responsibilities

• Deputise for the Centre Manager during absences and ensure smooth operation.
• Manage staff, leaners and resources to maintain a safe learning environment.
• Monitor teaching quality and learner outcomes across programmes.
• Support timetabling, recruitment and learner transitions.
• Contribute to safeguarding, EDI and health and safety procedures.
• Participate in audits, inspections and self-assessment activities.
• Collaborate with IQA team to share best practice and consistency.
• Maintain learner records and data systems accurately.
• Provide reports and attend management meetings as required.
