Job summary

Abbeyfield Living Society in England seeks a dedicated Deputy Care Home Manager to support the team at Pratt House in Amersham. The role oversees day-to-day operations and ensures high standards of care for residents.

The position offers 37.5 hours per week, with a pay range of £18.03–£19.16 per hour, and a Mon-Fri 9am-5pm contract. Applicants should have a Level 3 Diploma in Health & Social Care or equivalent, and strong leadership and budgeting skills.

Qualifications

• Level 3 Diploma in Health & Social Care or 3+ years in management within a registered service.
• Knowledge of the Health & Social Care Act 2009 and CQC regs.
• Ability to run day-to-day home operations under the General Manager.
• Passionate about high-quality care for older people.
• Proficient with IT, email and messages.
• Strong leadership and staff development skills.
• Experience managing staffing budgets.

Responsibilities

• Monitor residents' nutritional and hydration needs.
• Provide staff training and supervision.
• Deliver hands-on care when required.
• Create and amend risk assessments at strategic and operational levels.
• Communicate with the Manager and cover when needed.
• Ensure key information is shared within the staff and with clients.
• Model professionalism and customer service at all times.
• Report repairs/maintenance and follow up.
• Conduct staff appraisals and supervise staff.

We are now looking for a dedicated Deputy Care Home Manager to support the team at Pratt House.

Role

Deputy Care Home Manager.

Location

Pratt House, Quill Hall Lane, Amersham, HP6 6LU.

Hours

37.5 hours per week.

Pay

£18.03 - £19.16 per hour.

Contract

Monday-Friday 9am-5pm.

The Role Of Deputy Care Home Manager

• Monitoring the resident’s nutritional and hydration needs
• Staff training
• Delivering hands-on care when required
• Create, manage and amend risk assessments, both at a strategic and operational level and to ensure that staff are following procedures
• Communicate on a regular basis with the Manager on events that occurred in their absence and stepping in to cover them where needed
• Ensure that key information is effectively communicated both within the own staff group and the client as required
• Act as a role model for all staff, demonstrating and ensuring professionalism, good manners, and customer service at all times
• Report to management on any items that need repair or maintenance and ensure these are followed up
• Staff supervision and appraisals.

Skills & Experience

• You’ll need a Level 3 Diploma in Health & Social Care (or equivalent), or a minimum of 3 years experience in a similar role at management or senior level within a registered service.
• Strong working knowledge of the Heath and Social Care Act 2009 (regulated activities), CQC Registration Regulations 2009, Care Act 2014/2015.
• Ability to undertake day to day running of the home under the direction of the General Manager.
• Passionate about delivering high quality care for older people.
• Good with information technology; you’ll need to use IT systems, e mail and text.
• Strong influencing and professional relationship building skills; ability to facilitate meetings or support groups.
• Strong people leadership and management skills, able to get the best out of teams.
• Experience in managing staffing budgets.
