Job summary

A leading healthcare provider in Stockport is seeking a Deputy Cancer Services Manager to support the Lead Cancer Manager in driving forward the cancer agenda. This role will involve providing strong leadership, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives, and fostering a culture of safety and quality while empowering the Cancer Services Team to deliver excellent patient-centered care.

Qualifications

  • Educated to Masters Degree level or equivalent experience.

Job description

The post- holder will support the Lead Cancer Manager in the leadership of the Cancer Services Team and, in line with the national cancer agenda, will provide an approach of positively influencing excellence in patient experience, outcomes, and the delivery of statutory regulatory requirements and targets, within resource constraints

Main duties of the job

The post- holder will provide strong visible leadership across the organisation, by engaging and supporting staff with regards to the cancer agenda and supporting the Lead Cancer Manager in helping to set the strategic direction for cancer provision within the Trust, whilst ensuring alignment with the overall corporate objectives.

The post- holder will deputise for the Lead Cancer Manager when required

Job responsibilities

The Deputy Cancer Services Manager will be responsible for leading on a number of key performance and operational criteria across cancer services. They will provide leadership and line management of the Cancer Services Support Managers to ensure the effective leadership and management of processes.

This will provide assurance that the Cancer Services Team delivers a patient- centered service. Working with the Lead Cancer Manager, the post- holder will help to develop a culture focused on safety and quality, whilst ensuring achievement of performance against the national standards and positive patient experience.

The post- holder will support the development of a culture across the organisation which is transparent and empowers innovation, creativity, and learning at ward and departmental level.Along with the Lead Cancer Manager, the post- holder will provide advice on the national and local cancer agenda to the operational teams and work with peers to ensure consistency of cancer standards across the organisation, thereby reducing unwarranted variation in practice.

  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.

Qualifications
  • Educated to Masters Degree level or equivalent experience
Knowledge
  • Advanced knowledge of Cancer waiting Times targets and practice and implications for the service.
  • Understanding of cancer tracking processes and cancer MDT requirements
Experience
  • Experience of working with multidisciplinary teams including medical staff
  • Experience of supporting, supervising and developing staff.
