Job summary

NHS Jobs is seeking a Deputy with HTA expertise to oversee activities under the Human Tissue Act (2004) within RJAH. The post holder will advise staff on procurement, testing, storage, disposal and export of tissues for human application, and maintain a robust traceability system for both donors and recipients.

Reporting to the PD and DI, the role requires governance oversight, CPD, SOP management and collaboration across theatres and external regulators to ensure HTA compliance and quality

Responsibilities

• Develop knowledge of relevant legislation to work with the PD and DI to manage governance systems and processes for assurance of quality and standards relating to licenced activity.
• Support the Bone Bank activities by maintaining service requirements including governance tasks, audit activity, staff governance and coordination of bone donation and tissue transplantation processes.
• Provide day-to-day guidance, training and supervision to staff involved in bone donation and tissue transplantation, ensuring practice is safe and aligned to SOPs.
• Maintain CPD/training to ensure knowledge of HTA legislation and quality systems (Consent, Governance, Premises and Equipment, Disposal).
• Ensure staff have access to the latest SOPs and are aware of changes; act as HTA expert in theatres and RJAH staff when required.
• Act as a key contact in RJAH Theatre for specialist HTA advice, maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders on HTA matters.
• Work with PD, DI and RJAH HTA Group to ensure HTA license compliance, participate in the HTA Group, and report updates to Quality and Safety Groups.
• Respond to HTA alerts and assist in biannual reports/audits of HTA activities and compliance.
• Maintain audit programmes for theatres involved in HTA activities and prepare for biennial HTA inspections, addressing CAPA and reporting findings.
• In the absence of the PD, act as the contact in RJAH Theatre for HTA guidance and ensure effective communication about human tissue donation and transplantation.
