Job summary

University of Brighton is seeking a Human Tissue Governance Manager to oversee regulatory compliance for tissue activities across teaching, research and clinical support. The role focuses on implementing and embedding a new tissue-tracking system and maintaining robust audit trails.

You will interpret complex regulations, work with Designated Individuals, and drive governance improvements while managing priorities and collaborating with staff and students across the university.

Qualifications

• Specialist knowledge of the Human Tissue Act 2004 and HTA regulation.
• Experience applying regulatory requirements in laboratory, research or educational settings.
• Ability to interpret complex regulatory information and explain it clearly.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialist advice on compliance with Human Tissue Act 2004 and HTA requirements.
• Act as a Person Designate supporting the Designated Individual in HTA compliance.
• Oversee governance arrangements for acquisition, storage and use of human tissue for teaching, training and research.
• Lead auditing and assurance activities during tissue-tracking system implementation.
• Ensure audit trails and records are maintained and inspection-ready.
• Review and update governance documentation as required.
• Coordinate training related to the Human Tissue Act.
