Here’s more about the role and what we’re looking for;
To work collaboratively with the Antenatal and Newborn (ANNB) screening lead midwives and failsafe officer to support the coordination of all NHS ANNB screening programmes consistent with national programme standards and service specifications.
To contribute to the quality assurance and performance monitoring of the NHS ANNB screening programmes, which involves the collation and analysis of data to audit outcomes and produce reports. To support and counsel women and families; give advice within specialist areas of practice; facilitate screening and pregnancy outcome choices; plan care and refer to specialist services. To provide ANNB screening advice, guidance and support to other members of the healthcare team
To participate in the immunisation and vaccination programmes related to pregnant women and babies within specialist areas. Supports the coordination and facilitation of clinical activity for ANNB screening programmes (e.g. for women who are screen positive following Infectious Diseases in Pregnancy Screening (IDPS) and for the Newborn and Infant Physical Examination (NIPE) clinics) in conjunction with the ANNB screening lead midwives and medical leads for the service.
Uses knowledge and skills to provide advice and guidance to women and families, and to other health professionals in the delivery of the NHS ANNB screening programmes.
Ensures visibility and accessibility in maternity services as a role model and someone for whom women, families and staff can turn to for assistance, advice and support with regard to ANNB screening
Promotes a culture of inclusion, equality and diversity, reflecting the best interests of patients, public and staff to ensure that there is equal access to uniform and quality assured screening.
Counsels and supports women and their families in their choices regarding ANNB screening and the potential outcomes.
Analyses and assesses midwifery problems associated with ANNB screening, making referrals and escalating as required.
Supports and facilitates training programmes as part of the maternity training needs analysis, in line with maternity service recommendations and national ANNB screening service specifications
Educates staff to effectively communicate with women and their families to enable parents to make informed choices about their ANNB screening options and their pregnancy outcome.
