Job description

We are seeking enthusiastic and dynamic midwives with excellent standards of care to join our community teams in the Dudley area. This role will involve providing continuity of care to women during the antenatal and postnatal periods and will involve working in the community of Dudley. To meet the needs of our women it will be necessary to provide on call cover for homebirth. We are also actively developing continuity of carer pathways as part of the Better Births agenda and welcome innovation and enthusiasm.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible for the assessment of care needs and the development, implementation and evaluation of care. The post holder will be required to develop their skills in mentorship, leadership, examination of the new-born, providing teaching and supervision of Student Midwives and support staff. The post holder will also be required to take a lead/link role for the unit/department to be determined at appraisal.

Person Specification
Education and qualifications
  • Registered Midwife with the NMC
  • Evidence of undertaking or completing a recognised course in teaching and assessing
  • Educated to 1st degree level or evidence of study at degree level
  • Evidence of successful completion or willingness to undertake: Newborn Infant Physical Examination course
  • Evidence of professional development and regular study since qualification

  • Experience of close liaison with members of multidisciplinary team
  • Ability to demonstrate leadership, negotiating and influencing skills
  • Community midwifery experience
  • Evidence of having developed team working skills and implemented teamwork practices
  • Knowledge of clinical audit and effectiveness systems
  • Experience of teaching Parentcraft education
  • Demonstration of live mentorship registration
