Job description

Are you a dedicated midwife passionate about community care? Our new Midland Metropolitan University Hospital (MMUH) has now opened its doors and we are seeking experienced community midwives to join us at one of our 3 bespoke community bases!

Here at SWB we pride ourselves on the way we support and nurture our colleagues and how we value progression for all of our midwives. Our community midwives operate in small families, in line with best practice as advocated by Better Births, this means they give excellent care, whilst having room to grow.

Why not come and have an informal chat over a coffee with one of our team leaders, or one of our midwives to see if SWB could be the change you are looking for. Please feel free to email us nicola.tomkins@nhs.net Deputy Matron for Community, we would love to see you, there is no obligation.

We are also currently offering a financial incentive for midwives in Community Midwifery. A lump sum payment of £1,000 pro-rata is payable on completion of 12 months as a band 5/6 Community Midwife with a further £1,000 pro-rata payable at the end of year 2 and year 3 ! Please see the attached flyer for qualifying criteria.

We pride ourselves on offering appropriate support for those who require additional care in the community. Every service user is treated as an individual and their values are our values.

Being a car owner/driver is essential for this post.

Main duties of the job

Experience of community based midwifery care is required to provide all aspects of antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal care to pregnant people and their families in the Sandwell and West Birmingham area.

Successful candidates will be the named midwife for an identified caseload of women attached to a GP surgery and provide all routine care as per NICE guidelines antenatally and postnatally.

Some intrapartum care required within a traditional on call system.

You will be part of a supportive team providing care to a diverse community with links to other family services such as family support workers, Specialist Midwives, health visitors and children's centres.

Being a team player with excellent organisational skills is essential whilst also being able to work autonomously where required.

Training can be provided for up skilling (if required) and if you have particular interest in developing an area of your practice we will endeavor to accommodate this.
