Job description

DEPOT TEAM LEADER

To manage Operators effectively, ensuring the site and its technical installations are maintained in optimal condition and used safely. The goal is to consistently deliver high-quality service to customers.

DEPOT TEAM LEADER KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure staffing levels and capabilities are optimally balanced.
  • Allocate tasks and monitor progress, execution, and quality of work.
  • Identify process bottlenecks and propose improvements.
  • Conduct team meetings, performance reviews, and appraisals.
  • Organise and actively engage in key operational tasks such as loading/unloading vehicles, crate washing, recycling processes, sorting returnable items (RTIs), and repairing crates, dollies, pallets, and other packaging materials.
  • Support inventory accuracy by taking an active role in stock checks.
  • Set handling priorities and provide hands-on support when necessary.
  • Monitor logistics performance using key performance indicators (KPIs) and report results to the Site Manager.
  • Act as the first point of contact for customers regarding the delivery of logistical services.
  • Propose and implement ideas for cost-saving and quality improvement (e.g., step changes and continuous improvement initiatives).
  • Monitor and evaluate critical business processes essential to daily operations.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and assess wear and tear and work with the Maintenance Engineer to evaluate potential faults and adjust plans accordingly.
  • Track performance of installations using KPIs and report findings to the Depot Manager.

  • Effective and efficient team leadership.

DEPOT TEAM LEADER REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Intermediate vocational education with relevant experience in logistics.
  • Proven experience in team leadership or people management.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

DEPOT TEAM LEADER BENEFITS/HOURS OF WORK

  • 6AM to 6PM 4 on 4 off days only
