Job summary

South Western Railway (SWR) is hiring a depot cleaner at Salisbury Depot to ensure the cleaning and presentation of trains and depot areas meet standards. You will use approved equipment, follow COSHH, and work as part of a maintenance team.

Typical hours around 37 per week, Monday to Friday 09:00–17:00 with occasional weekend coverage. The role includes cleaning toilets, external unit cleaning, loading materials, and assisting other maintenance staff.

Qualifications

• Experience in cleaning and presenting depot/rolling stock to standard
• Safe use of cleaning equipment and tools
• Awareness of COSHH regulations and PPE usage

Responsibilities

• Clean trains and depot areas to train presentation standards
• External cleaning of units including nose ends
• Clean and restock toilets on train and in depot
• Maintain offices and maintenance sheds clean and tidy
• Carry out CET/Tanking duties and graffiti removal as required
• Waste separation and operation of a compactor
• Loading/unloading materials and operation of forklift
• Assist other maintenance staff and provide general labouring
