Job summary

GWR is looking for a station maintenance operative to support a patch of staff and unstaffed stations across the Oxford and Didcot area. You will ensure stations are presentable, engage with the community and carry out small projects and maintenance tasks.

You'll work about 35 hours per week, with a flexible rotating roster, and will be trained to use power tools and carry out routine safety and upkeep duties. A driving licence and a company vehicle are provided for travel between stations.

Qualifications

• Be a team player who can work both under instruction and use initiative to resolve issues as they arise.
• Be able to demonstrate the ability to manage own workload during periods of lone working.

Responsibilities

• Providing excellent customer service to our customers using our stations.
• Undertake litter collection at unstaffed stations.
• Bin management/poster updating.
• Vegetation clearance.
• Graffiti removal.
• Repairs and general maintenance tasks.
• Ensuring station presentation is maintained to a high standard.
• The role will involve the use of power tools, including hedge cutters and strimmer's and application of chemicals, such as weed sprays etc.
• Full training will be provided.
