Job summary

Speedy in St Albans is seeking a Depot Manager to lead a busy depot, ensuring customers are at the heart of operations and that delivery targets are met. You will manage the team, drive profitability, and sustain first-class service in a fast-paced environment.

The role requires strong communication, team leadership, and experience in health and safety practices, with a focus on balancing workloads to tight deadlines while supporting ESG initiatives.

Qualifications

• Proven experience leading a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Customer-focused with strong communication and organisational skills.
• Experience applying health and safety practices at work.
• Understanding of profit and loss and budgets.
• Experience in the hire sector is advantageous.
• Valid UK driving licence is preferred.

Role - Depot Manager

Location - St Albans

Days of work - Mon - Fri, Times - 07:30 - 17:00 - 42 hours per week

We are looking for an experienced and knowledgeable Depot Manager preferably with a background in hire or engineering to manage our busy depot in St Albans.

As a Depot Manager you will ensure that the customer is at the heart of everything we do, you will proactively manage the team, have the independence of running your own depot, drive the business forward and continue to deliver the first class customer service that makes Speedy the best in our sector!

What you'll need

• Experience in managing a team
• Customer focused
• Excellent communication and organisational skills
• Ability to prioritise work load and work under pressure to strict deadlines
• Demonstrate understanding and experience of managing Health and Safety practices at work
• Ability to understand and work with profit and loss accounts and budgets
• Capability to take ownership and responsibility
• Ability to adapt to individual and operational change in a diverse and fast-paced organisation
• PC literate
• General knowledge of the construction industry and trades including products.
• Previous experience of the hire process would be an advantage.
• Ability to support your business unit/team to deliver our ESG Strategy - Decade to Deliver.
• Driving licence
