Job summary

Laing O'Rourke is seeking a general labourer to support depot operations in the UK. You will assist with loading, unloading, and movement of tools, equipment, and materials, and operate workshop and site equipment safely under instruction.

The role emphasises working as part of a team to meet project schedules, maintain clean work areas, and follow health and safety practices. Training will be provided for required equipment and safety procedures.

Qualifications

• Experience in a construction, industrial, or depot environment is preferred but not essential.
• Ability to work safely with tools, equipment and machinery (training provided where necessary).
• Strong teamwork skills with the ability to communicate clearly and follow instructions.
• Good awareness of health and safety requirements and safe working practices.

Responsibilities

• Carry out general labouring duties to support depot operations.
• Assist with the loading, unloading, and movement of tools, equipment, and materials.
• Operate workshop and site equipment safely, following training and instructions.
• Maintain a clean, tidy, and organised work area, adhering to Health, Safety & Environmental standards.
• Support skilled operatives, supervisors, and engineers with day-to-day tasks as required.
• Follow instructions accurately, both verbally and in written form.
• Report hazards, damage, or equipment faults promptly to supervisors.
• Handle materials and equipment safely, including manual handling of large or heavy items.
• Work as part of a team to help meet project schedules and operational targets.
• Assist other departments within the depot when required to maintain workflow and productivity.
