Job Description:

The Department of Sociology, located at 42-43 Park End Street, Oxford, OX1 1JD, is seeking to appoint a full-time, fixed-term Departmental Lecturer in Sociology starting from September 2025 for a period of 2 years.

About the role: The successful candidate will primarily lecture and teach MSc Sociology students, focusing on qualitative methods and the political and civil conflict option paper, as well as supervising dissertations. Responsibilities also include participating in assessment and examination processes and supporting the delivery of the departmental master's program.

The ideal applicant will possess a relevant PhD or DPhil with post-qualification teaching and research experience, comprehensive knowledge of the subject to develop course units, pedagogic awareness, a strong publication record, and experience in writing research proposals.
