Acorn by Synergie is recruiting Wax & Core Department Operatives to join Howmet Aerospace, based in Exeter. Start­ing pay is £15.93 per hour with pay progression after training, and regular overtime opportunities. Successful candidates will complete a medical assessment before starting.

Responsibilities

• Wax Operative: Shape wax moulds using specialist tools and burners.
• Core Department Operative: Produce ceramic cores for aerospace casting processes.
• Operate machinery and follow detailed manufacturing procedures.
• Carry out quality inspections and basic machine checks.
• Support production activities within a controlled manufacturing environment.

Key Duties

• Wax Operative Shape wax moulds using specialist tools, knives, and Bunsen burners.
• Complete intricate, hands-on work with a high level of accuracy.
• Use transferable skills from sewing, crafting, model making, jewellery making, electronics, or similar precision-based activities.
• Core Department Operative Produce ceramic cores used in aerospace casting processes.
• Operate machinery and follow detailed manufacturing procedures.
• Support production activities within a controlled manufacturing environment.
• Wax Injection Operator Operate wax injection machinery.
• Change die patterns and tooling as required.
• Carry out quality inspections and basic machine checks.
• Ensure products meet required quality standards.

Requirements

• Ability to work a rotating shift pattern.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow detailed work instructions.
• Comfortable working in a physically active manufacturing environment.
• Good manual dexterity and practical skills.
• Successful completion of a pre-employment medical assessment.
• Previous manufacturing or production experience is beneficial but not essential.

Working Hours & Pay

• Starting pay: £15.93 per hour.
• Monday to Friday.
• Rotating shifts: 6am-2pm . 2pm-10pm .
• Overtime opportunities available.
