Job summary

Tempdent is seeking an experienced Dental Workplace Assessor to move from full-time chairside work into education and assessment. This part-time role (3 days per week) is field-based, supporting Preston learners to complete the Diploma in Dental Nursing.

You will observe learners in dental practices, provide feedback, manage your diary, and help candidates prepare for the End Point Assessment (EPA). GDC registration and a teaching or assessor qualification are preferred.

Qualifications

• Qualified GDC registered Dental Nurse.
• Assessor qualification (CAVA or TAQA) or willingness to acquire.
• Experience working in dental practice.
• Strong communication and organisational skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage your own schedule.
• Knowledge of work-based learning or apprenticeships.

Responsibilities

• Schedule and carry out workplace assessments for Dental Nursing learners within required timelines.
• Communicate effectively with practice managers and learners when arranging assessment visits.
• Ensure all relevant clinical treatments are booked and ready for observation.
• Provide constructive and supportive feedback to learners and employers.
• Manage your own assessment diary to maximise assessment opportunities.
• Maintain accurate and timely completion of assessment documentation.
• Support a caseload of learners and prepare them for End Point Assessment (EPA).
• Conduct Health & Safety and Equal Opportunities checks within dental practices.
• Facilitate communication between learners, employers and Tempdent.
• Attend team meetings, handovers and standardisation sessions.
• Work towards agreed targets and KPIs.
• Maintain GDC registration and CPD requirements.
• Promote safeguarding, equality, and best practice across all training environments.
