Job summary

Alloway Place Dental Care – part of Clyde Munro Group – is seeking a Dental Nurse to join our Ayr practice. The role supports chair-side activities and patient care across private and NHS settings, with a weekly Thursday-evening shift.

You will be involved in maintaining patient records using Software of Excellence, ensuring surgical setups, stock checks, and occasional reception duties to support a dynamic, patient-focused team.

Qualifications

• Must be GDC registered.
• Experience in Private or NHS dental practices.
• Able to provide high levels of patient care.
• Able to work independently and in a team.
• Willing to learn and develop new skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide chair-side support in daily activities.
• Ensure delivery of excellent patient care per clinical and safety guidance.
• Create a welcoming environment for patients.
• Utilise Software of Excellence to maintain accurate patient records.
• Prepare the surgery for each session to maximise efficiency.
• Anticipate clinician and patient needs and organise lab work/equipment.
• Monitor stock levels in the surgery.
• Carry out reception duties including calls, appointments and charges.

We are excited to be recruiting for a Dental Nurse to join our team at Alloway Place Dental Care in Ayr! We can consider full-time or part-time applicants.

With over 50 years of trusted service, our well-established practice is proud to provide high-quality dental care to the people of Ayr and the surrounding areas. Conveniently located near the town centre and just moments from the high street, the practice is also only a short walk from Ayr’s beautiful beachfront — offering the perfect setting to enjoy a seaside stroll before or after work.

Please note that this role includes working Thursday evenings as part of the weekly rota.

Your Role

You will be responsible for providing chair side support in all day-to-day activities within the practice and surgeries. You will play an important role in a ensuring the delivery of excellent patient care while complying with all clinical and health & safety guidance.

Other duties include –

• Creating a welcoming environment for patients that sets them at ease from the outset
• Maximising the use of the internal system (Software of Excellence) to ensure accurate patient records are maintained
• Ensuring the surgery is set up appropriately for each session throughout the day to maximise the efficiency of the practice and surgery utilisation
• Anticipating the requirements of the clinician and patient in advance of their session and ensure necessary lab work and equipment is in place
• Monitoring surgery stocks to ensure that appropriate stock levels are maintained
• Undertaking reception duties when required including answering the telephone, making appointments and collecting patient charges

About You

• Must be GDC registered
• Must have experience working in Private / NHS practices
• Willing to demonstrate the highest levels of patient care
• The ability to work on own initiative as well as part of a team
• Enthusiastic, with an appetite to learn and develop new skills
