Job summary

Maria Mallaband Care Group Ltd in Harrogate is seeking a Dementia Development role to support the further development of our Dementia Care services. You will work directly with residents to meet their physical and emotional needs, while upskilling home teams and delivering best-practice guidance.

You will report to your Home Manager and the Dementia Development Lead, contributing to a network of ambassadors across the organisation. A Level 3 Health and Social Care qualification is preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience in supporting people living with dementia is essential.
• Strong communication, coaching and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Working directly with residents to meet their physical and emotional needs.
• Delivering training workshops and guidance to the care team.
• Reporting to Home Manager and Dementia Development Lead.

Salary - £30,000 PA

About the role

An exciting opportunity has arisen to support the further development of our Dementia Care services as we look to support those people living in our homes and with a dementia. Therefore, we have introduced this role to support and upskill home teams to deliver exceptional care to those living with us. This is a varied role, which will involve working directly with residents to meet both their physical and emotional needs; building relationships and finding those commonalities which can enhance the residents’ experience; working alongside your colleagues to role model best practice, providing information, advice, and guidance where required.

You will report directly into your Home Manager, supported by our MMCG Dementia Development Lead, plus a wider network of Dementia Ambassadors across the organisation.

About you

Your experience of working to support people living with dementia is essential. You will need an understanding of the changes that dementia can have both on a person’s abilities and needs; how to find strategies to best support them; and to then support the team with making the relevant changes to care planning.

You will need strong communication, coaching and interpersonal skills and feel confident with supporting the team, delivering training workshops and demonstrating how to put newfound knowledge and skills into practice.

A level 3 vocational qualification in Health and Social Care is preferred.
