South Gloucestershire Council is seeking a Dementia Activity Assistant to support people living with dementia in a safe, welcoming, person-centred environment at Cambrian Green Day Centre. You will promote participation in meaningful activities and help maintain independence and wellbeing.

You will work with families and local networks to provide information and support, while accurately recording health and mobility changes and following safeguarding procedures. DBS checks are required.

Qualifications

• Experience in a similar service area with people who have complex needs linked to dementia, including challenging behaviour.
• Demonstrates empathy, compassion and effective communication with service users and families.
• Ability to learn and apply relevant processes, procedures and safe use of specialist equipment.
• Willingness to work towards NVQ Level 2 if not already held.

Responsabilités

• Encourage service users to participate in social and therapeutic activities while providing emotional support.
• Provide person-centred support, information and encouragement to maximise independence and wellbeing.
• Collaborate with local networks and services to ensure access to information and support for service users and carers.
• Maintain accurate care records, monitor changes in health and mobility, and report safeguarding concerns.
