Role Summary
The Delivery Lead / Delivery Manager will support the delivery of Agile software development within the Agents team, with a particular focus on enabling effective delivery of MMTAR Phase 2. The role will combine core Scrum Master responsibilities with practical delivery management activity, ensuring the team has the structure, planning discipline, stakeholder visibility and delivery focus needed to progress complex work in a controlled and transparent way. This is an additional role to work alongside an established senior Delivery Lead already in the team.
Role purpose
The role is responsible for helping the team deliver predictably and sustainably by facilitating Agile ways of working, removing impediments, improving transparency and supporting effective planning across product, design, analysis, engineering and testing activity. For MMTAR Phase 2, the role will also provide a level of delivery management support, including planning, dependency tracking, risk and issue management, milestone visibility and coordination across stakeholders.
Key responsibilities
- Lead and facilitate Agile delivery for the team, ensuring ceremonies such as stand-ups, sprint planning, refinement, reviews and retrospectives are effective, focused and consistently run.
- Support the Product Owner, Business Analysts and delivery team in shaping, refining and prioritising the backlog so that work is well understood, appropriately sized and ready for delivery.
- Maintain clear visibility of delivery progress through Jira and other agreed tracking mechanisms, ensuring sprint and backlog information is accurate, current and useful for decision‑making.
- Provide regular, concise and evidence‑based progress reporting to stakeholders, highlighting achievements, risks, issues, dependencies, decisions required and any impact on delivery timelines.
- Identify, track and help remove impediments that affect the team's ability to meet sprint goals or progress planned delivery activity.
- Promote collaboration, prioritisation, accountability and transparency across the team, creating an environment where issues can be raised early and addressed constructively.
- Coach the team in Agile and Scrum practices, supporting continuous improvement and helping the team adopt the ways of working that best suit the delivery context.
- Facilitate constructive discussion, support conflict resolution and help the team make appropriate delivery commitments without dictating how work should be completed.
- Support team self‑organisation while ensuring there is sufficient planning discipline, delivery focus and stakeholder engagement to maintain confidence in delivery.
Phase 2 delivery management responsibilities
- Support planning for MMTAR Phase 2, including the development and maintenance of an appropriate delivery plan, milestone view and sequencing of discovery, design, analysis, build, test and release activity.
- Work with the Product Owner, Delivery Manager, designers, Business Analysts, engineers and testers to ensure Phase 2 requirements are understood, dependencies are visible and delivery assumptions are actively managed.
- Track risks, issues and dependencies associated with Phase 2 delivery, escalating early where decisions, scope clarification, funding, resourcing or stakeholder input are required.
- Provide clear status reporting for MMTAR Phase 2, including progress against plan, delivery confidence, blockers, upcoming milestones and any changes to forecast delivery dates.
- Help establish and maintain a delivery rhythm that supports both ongoing live/enhancement work and the additional discovery and delivery needs of Phase 2.
Expected experience and skills
- Strong experience as a Scrum Master, Delivery Lead or hybrid Scrum Master / Delivery Manager within Agile software delivery teams.
- Practical experience of delivery planning, backlog management, dependency tracking, risk and issue management, and stakeholder reporting.
- Confident working with multidisciplinary teams across product, delivery, analysis, design and engineering.
- Strong communication and facilitation skills, with the ability to create clarity from ambiguity and bring structure to complex or evolving delivery work.
- Ideally have knowledge of CESA.
