Freelance Ltd is seeking an experienced Project Manager to join a major infrastructure project in a hands-on, delivery-focused role. You will own workstreams, coordinate site activities and ensure milestones are met, reporting to a Senior Project Manager.

The ideal candidate has a strong civil engineering background with experience delivering complex works. A highways background would be highly advantageous, and a hands-on, proactive approach is essential to maintain momentum and quality.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in a Project Manager role within civil engineering or major infrastructure.
• Strong technical understanding of civil works with site-based delivery.
• Experience on highways or road infrastructure preferred.
• Hands-on approach focused on safe, efficient delivery.
• Confident leading site teams and coordinating multiple workstreams.
• Excellent organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to take ownership and lead when required.

Responsibilities

• Lead the day-to-day delivery of civil engineering works on a major infrastructure project.
• Take ownership of project workstreams, ensuring activities are delivered to programme, budget and quality requirements.
• Coordinate site teams, subcontractors, engineers and other key stakeholders to drive progress.
• Monitor project performance, identify risks and resolve issues to maintain delivery momentum.
• Ensure all works are carried out in line with health, safety, environmental and quality standards.
• Support the Senior Project Manager in the overall management of the project, taking the lead when required.
• Drive planning, progress reporting and short-term programme delivery.
• Proactively identify opportunities to improve productivity, efficiency and project performance.
