Job summary

Aldwych Consulting is seeking an experienced Project Manager with a strong civil engineering background to lead complex infrastructure schemes and deliver successful outcomes. You will work hands‑on with your teams, maintaining high standards and solving problems on site.

The role focuses on project leadership, commercial management and delivery from mobilisation to handover. A UK driving licence and NEC contract familiarity are desirable.

Qualifications

• A degree or HND in Civil Engineering, or an equivalent relevant qualification.
• Proven experience as a Project Manager delivering civil engineering or infrastructure projects.
• Strong commercial awareness, including experience managing budgets, forecasts, cost reporting and subcontractor performance.
• A sound understanding of construction contracts, ideally including NEC.
• Confidence using Microsoft Office, project planning software and digital cost management or reporting systems.
• A full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Lead project delivery: Manage civil engineering projects from mobilisation through construction to completion and final handover.
• Take ownership of performance: Manage project programmes, budgets, forecasts and reporting, including cost‑value reconciliations (CVRs).
• Manage resources effectively: Oversee procurement and coordination of plant, labour, materials, and subcontractors.
• Influence design and engineering: Interpret drawings and client specs, work with designers to resolve issues and inform changes.
• Maintain quality and compliance: Ensure RAMS, quality plans and environmental controls are developed and followed.
• Lead commercially: Apply understanding of contracts, costs and subcontractor performance to protect project outcomes.

We're seeking an experienced Project Manager with a strong civil engineering background to join a growing project delivery team, taking responsibility for complex infrastructure schemes and playing a hands‑on role in their successful delivery.

What you'll be responsible for

You'll have a broad remit, combining project leadership, commercial management and hands‑on delivery.

• Lead project delivery: Manage civil engineering projects from mobilisation through construction to completion and final handover.

• Lead commercially: Apply your understanding of contracts, costs and subcontractor performance to protect project outcomes and support sound commercial decisions.

What you'll bring

We're looking for someone who understands the realities of civil engineering delivery and has the experience and confidence to take responsibility for a project.

You'll ideally have:

• A degree or HND in Civil Engineering, or an equivalent relevant qualification.
• Proven experience as a Project Manager delivering civil engineering or infrastructure projects.
• Strong commercial awareness, including experience managing budgets, forecasts, cost reporting and subcontractor performance.
