Job summary

Legal & General is seeking an experienced Defined Benefit Loading Services Manager based in Hove to lead a specialist pensions and data team responsible for validating, preparing and loading scheme data accurately. The role also focuses on risk management and continuous improvement within a hybrid working model.

You will guide loading services operations, ensuring high-quality data handling and timely delivery to support DB pension schemes across UK customers.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of Defined Benefit pension schemes.
• Experience leading an operational team.
• Experience with data‑led or customer‑focused operations in regulated environments.
• Pensions qualification such as PMI or CII, or equivalent practical experience.
• Organisational, analytical and stakeholder management skills.

We’re looking for an experienced operational people leader to manage a specialist team that supports the onboarding of Defined Benefit pension schemes.

You’ll lead a team of pensions and data specialists who are responsible for validating, preparing and loading scheme data accurately and on time. Alongside day‑to‑day operations, you’ll also help to strengthen processes, manage risk and build a service that can respond effectively as business demands change.

This is a varied leadership opportunity for someone who understands Defined Benefit pensions, enjoys developing people and can bring structure and clarity to a complex operational environment. This role is a Hybrid working opportunity, which means you can split your time between your home and the office to find a work‑life balance that works for you.

What you’ll be doing:

• Leading, coaching and developing a team of pensions and data specialists
• Setting clear objectives and maintaining strong performance and quality standards
• Overseeing the validation, preparation and loading of customer and scheme data
• Managing valuation loadings, full scheme loadings and Early Scheme Reviews
• Planning resources to meet operational service levels and contractual commitments
• Identifying operational and data risks and leading appropriate mitigation activity
• Improving processes and controls through collaboration and continuous improvementSupporting strategic planning and operational readiness across Loading Services

Who we’re looking for:

• Strong knowledge of Defined Benefit pension schemes
• Experience leading and developing an operational team
• Experience managing data‑led or customer‑focused operations within insurance, banking or a comparable regulated environment
• A relevant pensions qualification such as PMI or CII, or equivalent practical experience
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities
• Good analytical, problem‑solving and decision‑making capability
• Confidence building relationships and influencing different stakeholders
• A hands‑on leadership style with a strong focus on quality and customer outcomes
