Legal & General (L&G) is hiring a Pensions Actuary to join the Onboarding Calculations Team within the Pension Risk Transfer (PRT) Client Services function. You will ensure accurate manual calculations and essential claims work, while providing technical expertise on complex DB benefit structures.

The role blends leadership, coaching, and hands-on calculation work. The position supports a hybrid pattern with Glasgow offices and home working, enabling effective work-life balance and collaboration

Qualifications

• Qualified Actuary with significant DB pension administration experience.
• Deep understanding of defined benefit scheme structures and regulations.
• Experience with manual quotations and complex DB benefits.
• Strong leadership and stakeholder management.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical oversight to the Onboarding Calculations Team.
• Produce and check individual Defined Benefits quotations.
• Lead and support projects to enhance processes.
• Act as SME and provide technical support as required.
• Support Team Managers with development and coaching of the team.
• Produce and analyse MI to ensure customer outcomes quality.
• Collaborate with internal teams to optimise delivery.

We are looking for a talented Pensions Actuary to join our Onboarding Calculations Team within our Pension Risk Transfer (PRT) Client Services function.

In this pivotal role, you will help ensure the efficient and accurate delivery of manual calculations and essential claims work, whilst also providing technical expertise across the team on complex benefit structures and other specialist aspects of Defined Benefit pension schemes.

What you'll be doing:

• Providing technical oversight to the work done by the Onboarding Calculations Team


• Producing and checking individual Defined Benefits quotations


• Leading and supporting projects to enhance and improve our processes


• Acting as a Subject Matter Expert for the team, and providing technical support as required


• Supporting Team Managers with the ongoing development and coaching of the wider team


• Producing and analysing regular MI to ensure the quality of our customer outcomes


• Working closely with other internal teams to optimise the delivery of operational outcomes


• Facilitating the operation of any additional activities (as required)

Who we're looking for:

• Qualified Actuary with significant DB pension administration experience


• Detailed understanding of defined benefit pension scheme structures and regulations


• Extensive experience with manual individual quotations and complex DB benefit structures


• Proven ability to deliver solutions to technical and business problems


• Strong customer and client focus with excellent relationship management and leadership skills


• Ability to manage tight timescales and prioritise work effectively


• Excellent communication skills and ability to support team development


• Knowledge of relevant legislation and compliance requirements
