Job summary

Northrop Grumman UK is offering an Industrial Placement in Systems Engineering to contribute to Platform Management Systems for the UK's fleet of nuclear-powered submarines. You will work within Integrated Systems, supporting requirements, verification, and validation across the lifecycle.

Starting September 2027, the 12‑month placement includes dedicated mentoring and a multidisciplinary team environment, with a focus on mission-critical technology and practical engineering experience.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a relevant degree in electronics, mechanical, systems or software engineering.
• Experience with systems engineering concepts including requirement verification and validation.
• Familiarity with DOORS or similar requirements management tools is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to systems engineering activities from requirements to acceptance, including verification and validation.
• Help produce project deliverables and support process improvements.
• Complete assigned activities in line with approved plans, processes and procedures.
• Estimate scope and effort for systems engineering activities.
• Monitor tasks, timescales and expenditure against schedules and budgets.
• Support project reviews including design, risk and change-impact reviews.
• Contribute to defect, fault and issue management and regulatory compliance.
