Job summary

Sodexo invites applications for a Security Receptionist at Portsmouth Naval Base, PO1 4QT. The role supports access control for personnel, contractors and visitors in a secure Defence environment, requiring professional and detail‑focused handling.

Working 23 hours per week across Monday to Thursday, on a 12-month fixed-term contract, you will process visitor passes, vetting applications, greet guests and maintain accurate security records in line with MOD requirements.

Qualifications

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow strict procedures.
• Good computer literacy and confidence using computer systems.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Professional, approachable and customer‑focused manner.
• Ability to handle confidential and security‑sensitive information appropriately.

Responsibilities

• Processing temporary ID passes for visitors, ensuring all relevant security checks are completed correctly.
• Managing security and vetting applications for contractors and subcontractors requiring access to the Naval Base.
• Ensuring all applications are completed accurately and processed in line with MOD and Naval Base requirements.
• Greeting visitors and personnel in a friendly, professional and courteous manner.
• Maintaining accurate records and ensuring all relevant security procedures and site rules are followed.
• Completing thorough shift handovers and checking daily occurrence and incident reports.
