Job summary

Mace in Preston is seeking a Security Coordinator to join our Defence team on a high‑profile, highly regulated programme. The role requires trusted professionals who can operate with discretion within a secure environment and obtain UK security clearance (SC).

You will coordinate security clearance applications, support personnel security processes, maintain records, and liaise with project teams, clients, UKSV and security stakeholders. Hybrid working options are available.

Qualifications

• Experience in a Defence or highly regulated environment.
• Knowledge of UK government vetting: BPSS, SC, DV.
• Strong ICT skills, including MS Office.
• Understanding of personnel, physical and information security.
• Knowledge of data protection and FOI laws.
• Excellent organisational and record-keeping abilities.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate security clearance applications and renewals (BPSS, SC, DV).
• Support personnel security processes: onboarding, transfers, leavers, changes in clearance status.
• Liaise between employees, project teams, clients, UKSV and other security stakeholders.
• Maintain security records, registers, trackers and documentation.
• Coordinate security briefings, inductions and awareness activities for project personnel.
• Support security audits, inspections and compliance reviews by preparing documentation and evidence.
• Assist with reporting and escalation of security incidents, concerns and potential breaches.
