Job summary

Matchtech in the United Kingdom seeks an experienced Safety Engineer to join a growing defence engineering team. You will identify, assess, and manage safety risks across the product lifecycle, embedding safety into design decisions and ensuring compliance with defence standards.

You will produce safety cases, support audits and certification, run hazard analyses and risk assessments, and mentor junior engineers while collaborating with customers and regulators on mission-critical projects.

Qualifications

• Experience in safety-critical environments such as defence or aerospace.
• Proven ability to create and maintain safety cases.
• Knowledge of industry standards and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

• Identify, assess and manage safety risks across the product lifecycle.
• Embed safety principles into design decisions and ensure compliance with defence standards.
• Produce safety documentation, safety cases and compliance evidence.
• Facilitate safety reviews, workshops and risk assessment activities with cross-functional teams.
• Support design reviews and influence engineering decisions to ensure safety requirements are integrated.
• Mentor junior engineers and champion best practice across the team.
