Job summary

Manpower UK is seeking a Product Safety Engineer in the UK to influence safety across the development lifecycle, from concept to customer support. You will own safety activities, conduct hazard analysis and risk assessment, and ensure compliance with relevant standards.

The role requires experience in safety-critical sectors, strong knowledge of safety analysis techniques, and excellent stakeholder communication across multidisciplinary teams.

Qualifications

  • Engineering degree or equivalent qualification.
  • Proven experience in regulated, high-hazard industries (Defence, Aerospace, Space, Automotive, Nuclear).
  • Experience producing safety case reports, safety management plans and applying hazard analysis techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Lead hazard identification and risk assessment using recognised methodologies (e.g., FMEA/FTA).
  • Develop and maintain Product Safety Management Plans and safety-related roadmaps.
  • Collaborate with design, manufacturing and project teams to implement risk reduction and ensure ALARP.
  • Produce high-quality safety case reports demonstrating product safety for operations.
  • Act as the primary safety engineering focal point, communicating with internal teams, customers and external stakeholders.

Job description

This permanent Product Safety Engineer position in Kidderminster offers a salary of £45,000 to £55,000, plus bonus and benefits. Working full time within a multidisciplinary engineering team, the successful candidate will influence safety throughout the entire development lifecycle, from concept and design through qualification, production and customer support. Key responsibilities include owning safety engineering activities, conducting hazard analysis and risk assessment, and ensuring compliance with relevant standards. ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

You will take ownership of safety engineering activities, working closely with technical specialists and stakeholders to ensure products meet stringent safety and regulatory requirements.

WHAT TO EXPECT

WHAT YOU''LL NEED
  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Engineering, Science or a related technical discipline.
  • Proven experience within a regulated, high-hazard industry such as Defence, Aerospace, Space, Automotive, Nuclear or similar.
  • Experience producing safety case reports, safety management plans and applying hazard analysis techniques.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to explain complex technical risks clearly.
  • Knowledge of industry safety standards, quality management systems or safety-critical product development would be advantageous.
