Job summary

Leonardo UK Ltd is hiring a Project Engineering Manager (PEM) on a permanent, hybrid basis in the UK. You will lead engineering across a product line, define strategy, and ensure delivery against schedule, cost, and quality targets.

The role involves coordinating with the IPT, Systems Design Authority, and external partners to deliver robust defence solutions. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership, excellent communication, and a good understanding of the engineering lifecycle.

• Strong problem-solving abilities.
• Good schedule and budget control.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Commercial awareness when engaging with customers and partners.
• Ability to coordinate across multiple sites and stakeholders.

• Knowledge of engineering lifecycle and business processes.
• Willingness to travel within the UK and potentially overseas.

Responsibilities

• Lead the engineering aspects of the project, ensuring quality, schedule and budget.
• Manage cross-site, multi-disciplinary engineering teams with clearly defined roles.
• Build strong relationships with customers and partners to deliver project capability.
• Communicate progress and risks to IPT lead, Project Manager and Functional Heads.
• Collaborate with Systems Design Authority on technical progress and mitigation strategies.
• Ensure the design solution meets end-user requirements and is fully documented.
• Support supplier management and make/buy decisions.
• Develop and mentor the engineering team, set objectives and provide performance feedback.
