Job summary

Babcock is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer in Ashton Vale, near Nailsea, Bristol to help build current and future defence systems. You will own machined parts and assemblies, develop manufacturing methods, and support life-cycle manufacturing with cross-functional teams.

The role emphasizes process development, project investment, and close collaboration with production, procurement and engineering stakeholders in a 37-hour, on-site setting.

Qualifications

• Strong experience in milling and turning; resolve complex manufacturing challenges.
• Estimating machining and assembly processes from 2D drawings and 3D models.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings; knowledge of GD&T requirements.
• Computer literate and able to pick up new software/ERP (IFS/SAP).
• Understanding of work holding options and fixture design.

Responsibilities

• Act as the product owner for machined parts and assemblies, including complex components.
• Provide technical expertise in development, launch and support of manufacturing methods.
• Maintain product support throughout its manufacturing lifecycle with stakeholders.
• Support estimation and design of new, innovative designs for manufacturability.
• Engage with stakeholders on technical investment projects aligned to budgets.
