Job summary

Awerian is seeking a consultant to perform vulnerability research and develop proof‑of‑concept demonstrators, often in novel settings, combining software and hardware insights to protect critical systems.

The role involves rapid prototyping, collaboration with clients, and delivering high‑quality outcomes in a fast-paced environment at our Cambridge-area labs. A strong degree and experience in vulnerability research are expected, with UK security clearance considered.

Qualifications

• Hold a strong undergraduate degree in a relevant subject including (but not limited to) Maths, Physics, Engineering, or Computer Science.
• Demonstrate applied experience in vulnerability research.
• Be a fluent programmer in C, C++ or Python.
• Possess knowledge of how system software and hardware interact at a low level, e.g. OS drivers.
• Bring an outside-the-box approach with creative problem solving and a broad interest in cyber security.

Responsibilities

• Undertake vulnerability research and develop proof-of-concept demonstrators.
• Analyse connections between software, hardware, and interfaces to design protective solutions.
• Prototype rapidly and troubleshoot using third‑party components and custom elements.
• Analyse results, draw conclusions, and make recommendations for further research.
• Collaborate with clients to understand needs and deliver high‑quality outcomes at pace.
