Job summary

Birch Hill Primary School and Nursery is seeking a dedicated Specialist Resource Provision (SRP) Teaching Assistant to support pupils with a range of additional needs within our specialist provision.

You will work under the guidance of the class teacher and SENCo to deliver high-quality learning, social and emotional support, contributing to personalised learning plans and ensuring pupils feel safe and included.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting children with SEND, ideally including ASD, MLD or speech, language and communication needs.
  • NVQ Level 2 / CACHE Level 2 or equivalent, and English/Maths to Level 2 (or willingness to work towards this).
  • Commitment to safeguarding, equality, inclusion and the wellbeing of all pupils.

Responsibilities

  • Providing care, support and supervision for pupils with a range of additional needs, including intimate care and administering medication as required.
  • Supporting learning activities, helping pupils engage positively with their programmes of work.
  • Promoting inclusion and positive behaviour, logging concerns as needed.
  • Preparing, maintaining and organising resources, materials and displays.
  • Supervising pupils during lessons, breaks and lunchtimes, including wet‑play and outdoor activities.
  • Collaborating with teachers, the SENCo and families to monitor progress and agree next steps.
