Job summary

The Sheffield College is seeking dedicated support to assist Deaf and Hearing-Impaired learners in further education settings. You will communicate in British Sign Language, notetake clearly, and help learners across various educational levels. Experience in FE or school settings is valued.

Role requires Level 2 English/Maths and Sign Language qualifications, with willingness to progress. You will contribute to learner progress records and support in-class activities with Deaf Awareness training.

Qualifications

• Experience of supporting Deaf/Hearing Impaired learners in FE or school settings
• Excellent communication skills in BSL and notetaking
• Able to communicate with Deaf and Hearing-Impaired learners at a range of educational levels and settings
• Able to take clear and precise notes at a range of educational levels
• Level 2 English and Maths qualification or equivalent
• Level 3 qualification in Sign Language or willingness to work towards
• CACDP/ Signature Qualification in British Sign Language
• Sign Language Level 2
• Level 2 qualification in Notetaking, or equivalent
• Qualification/training in Deaf Awareness/Deaf Studies
• CSW training or qualification
• Able to keep up to date records of learner progress and provide own contribution to record of in class support
• Awareness of Deaf culture

Responsibilities

• Maintain up-to-date records of learner progress and contribute to in-class support records
• Provide support to Deaf and Hearing-Impaired learners across educational levels
• Demonstrate clear communication in BSL and accurate notetaking during sessions
• Support inclusive learning environments and awareness of Deaf culture
