Job summary

Encyclis is seeking a skilled DCS/Control Room Operator to join the Protos Energy Recovery Facility team in Ellesmere Port, Cheshire, UK. The role focuses on safe, efficient plant control and compliance with environmental permits, reporting to the Shift Team Leader.

You will work across plant systems, drive safety initiatives, and support start-ups, shutdowns and routine maintenance with the Operations Manager and maintenance teams.

Qualifications

• Proven experience operating modern DCS systems in a large process environment (min 3 years).
• Strong technical background in boilers, turbines, fans, pumps, conveyors and valves.
• Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, schematics and technical drawings.
• Calm, decisive and safety-driven under pressure with strong problem-solving ability.

Responsibilities

• Operate the facility safely and efficiently on shift, including plant control via DCS.
• Develop, implement, and maintain SOPs and risk assessments for operations.
• Promote safety and participate in HS&E meetings and forums.
• Coordinate with maintenance and day operations teams for start-ups and shutdowns.
• Represent safety practices and undertake coverage roles as required.
