Job summary

Babcock is seeking a Senior Data Scientist for our Stoke Gifford, Bristol site. The role focuses on leading analytics and software development to support UK defence programmes, using Python-based solutions and advanced analytics to inform strategic decisions.

The successful candidate will manage a small team, collaborate with multiple stakeholders, and deliver robust analytical products. A SC security clearance is required, with 35 hours per week and a fixed onsite pattern at the Bristol site.

Qualifications

• Experience developing analytical solutions using Python.
• Proven experience leading or managing small teams of data analysts and/or software developers.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills with the ability to explain complex concepts to diverse audiences.
• Experience working with multiple stakeholders and balancing changing priorities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Power BI for analysis and data visualisation

The role

As a Senior Data Scientist, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You'll have the opportunity to lead innovative software development, modelling and analytics projects that support one of the UK's most important defence programmes. Working at the heart of strategic submarine maintenance and disposal planning for the Royal Navy, you'll use advanced analytics and Python-based solutions to help inform critical business and operational decisions.

Day-to-day, you’ll be required to

This role is based at Bristol and is 35 hours per week. Set working times are 7.5 hours Monday to Thursday and 5 hours on Friday, finishing at 12pm

Essential experience of the Senior Data Scientist

Qualifications for the Senior Data Scientist

• Degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Computing, Information Technology or a related discipline
