Job summary

Dalkia UK at Torness Power Station is seeking an experienced Chef to join our catering team. You will lead day-to-day kitchen operations, support the Chef Manager, and help develop a small team while delivering high-quality meals for staff and visitors.

This Monday-to-Friday role offers daytime hours, a structured pattern and the chance to combine culinary skill with leadership in a safety-focused environment. We value quality, hygiene and customer service.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Chef in a high-volume catering environment.
• Strong culinary skills and ability to produce quality food.
• Experience supervising a kitchen team and mentoring juniors.
• Good communication and organisational skills.
• Solid knowledge of food safety, hygiene and compliance.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, cook and present meals to a high standard.
• Support menu planning and development with dietary and budget considerations.
• Maintain cleanliness, food hygiene and safety standards.
• Assist Chef Manager with day-to-day kitchen operations.
• Mentor junior kitchen staff.
• Order stock and manage supplies to control costs.
• Ensure standards are followed and deliver excellent customer service.
• Contribute to a positive team environment.
