Job summary

Abbots Care is seeking a Day Complex Care Assistant to support a gentleman in his own home in Buntingford, Hertfordshire. The role offers £16.00 per hour, with shifts 8am-8pm and alternate weekends.

Training will be provided by our clinical team, and care includes personal, catheter and bowel support to promote independence in daily living. Applicants should have experience in complex or spinal injury care, be reliable, and comfortable working in a home environment with CCTV in the carers’ room.

Day Complex Care Assistant - Spinal Injury

Buntingford, Hertfordshire | £16.00 per hour | 8am-8pm

Looking for more than just another care role?

We’re looking for experienced, confident and compassionate carers to join a dedicated team supporting a gentleman in his own home in Buntingford.

Our client is 47 and lives with a C3 complete spinal cord injury following a motocross accident almost three years ago. He lives at home with his wife and his two very large — and very friendly — Great Danes, Thor and Mav.

This is an opportunity to become part of a consistent, highly trained care team, providing one-to-one support that enables our client to live safely, comfortably and as independently as possible.

You’ll be supporting with personal care, catheter care, bowel care and other aspects of daily living. Just as importantly, you’ll be helping our client maintain his independence, choices and everyday routine.

We’re not expecting you to arrive knowing everything. Specialist training and competency assessments will be provided by our in-house clinical team, ensuring you feel confident and fully prepared before working independently.

• Experienced in care, ideally complex care or spinal injury
• Calm, confident and able to respond appropriately when situations change
• Reliable and committed to providing consistent, high-quality care
• Emotionally mature, respectful and non-judgemental
• Comfortable working both independently and as part of a close-knit team
• A good communicator with a positive attitude and a sense of humour
• Comfortable around two very large, friendly dogs
• Happy to work within a home where CCTV operates in the carers’ room and externally
• Driver with car is essential due to client's geographical location

Shift pattern:

8am-8pm, including alternate weekends.
