Job summary

Nova Education Trust at Toot Hill School is seeking a talented and enthusiastic Cleaner to join our team. This permanent, part-time role (20 hours per week), term-time only, has a closing date of Friday 30 October 2026 at 9am.

You will work as part of a busy team delivering cleaning duties across classrooms, hallways, toilets and offices, including sweeping, mopping, dusting and waste disposal, while following COSHH and safeguarding policies.

Qualifications

• Experience in general cleaning tasks is helpful but not required.
• Able to work as part of a busy team and follow instructions.
• Commitment to safeguarding in line with policy.

Responsibilities

• Work as part of a team in a busy environment to carry out general cleaning duties in classrooms, hallways, toilets, offices and common areas.
• Sweep, mop, dust and vacuum floors; clean and sanitise toilets, sinks and other high-touch surfaces.
• Manage waste: empty bins, collect waste and dispose of potentially contaminated materials.
• Report maintenance or safety issues to the appropriate personnel for timely repairs and compliance with health and safety regulations.
• Maintain cleaning tools and equipment, ensuring good working condition and reporting malfunctions.
• Follow correct working practices and COSHH regulations to safeguard others and yourself; support safeguarding policies for young people.

Your main responsibilities within this role will be:

• To work as part of a team, in a busy environment, undertaking general cleaning duties, including daily cleaning tasks in classrooms, hallways, toilets, offices and common areas.
• Duties will include sweeping, mopping, dusting and vacuuming floors as well as cleaning and sanitising toilets, sinks and other high-touch surfaces to prevent the spread of germs.
• Waste management including emptying waste bins, collecting waste and ensuring proper disposal of potentially contaminated materials.
• Reporting any maintenance or safety issues to the appropriate personnel to ensure timely repairs and compliance with health and safety regulations.
• Maintaining cleaning tools and equipment, ensuring they are in good working condition and reporting any malfunctions.
• Following correct working practices in use of equipment and materials and adopting safe working practices to safeguard the safety of others as well as oneself, including COSHH regulations.
• All staff will ensure the safeguarding of young people by the implementation of Child Protection and other safeguarding policies.
