Job Description

West Dunbartonshire HSCP Learning Disability Service delivers high quality housing support/care at home services to adults.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, committed, motivated and flexible person to join our housing support team.

This post is for male only applicants and is exempt under Section 9(2)(b) of the Employment (Sex Discrimination) Act 2000.

The housing support service operates 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. A rota is in operation, and you may be required to work early shifts, back shifts and sleepovers which also includes weekend working.

Duties include assisting supported people where required, which can include personal care, medication, promoting positive behaviour and help with preparing meals. Working in a person-centred way you will also assist people to maintain and develop their daily living skills. You will support them and support staff to develop support plans to achieve identified outcomes.

You must have a minimum SVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care or equivalent. It is essential that you have experience of working with adults with learning disabilities. You must be able to demonstrate within your application form that you are reliable and flexible with the ability to work as part of a team.

You will also be required to demonstrate that you can communicate effectively (both verbally and in writing) and this would include monitoring and reporting changes in the identified needs of the people we support, including the handling of sensitive information.

You must achieve registration with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) within 3 months of your start date.

Requirements

This post is considered as Regulated Work with Adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2020 and as such membership with the PVG scheme is essential. Further details of this scheme can be found here .

Preferred applicants will be required to become members of the relevant PVG scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer being made by West Dunbartonshire Council.
