Job summary

Birds operates a full-time Day Bakery in Ascot Drive Bakery, DE24 8GN. The role is a 45-hour week with a day shift starting at 5:00am and includes 1 in 5 Saturdays to support our seven-day operation.

The ideal candidate has bakery experience, practices high hygiene standards, and is eager to contribute to busy, high-quality production while maintaining a clean, efficient workspace.

Qualifications

• Previous bakery experience preferred.
• Training will be provided for suitable applicants.
• Ability to work mornings and Saturdays to support 7-day bakery operations.

Responsibilities

• Play a key role in daily production, ensuring bakery products are prepared, baked and packed to high standards.
• Weigh and prepare ingredients accurately for bakery production.
• Operate bakery machinery, including mixing, baking and packing equipment.
• Assist with the production of a variety of bakery products.
• Ensure products are prepared and presented to high quality standards.
• Maintain a clean, organised workspace while adhering to strict food hygiene and safety guidelines.
• Work efficiently to meet dispatch deadlines.

Day Bakery Operative

Location: Ascot Drive Bakery DE24 8GN

Hours: 45 hours per week | Day Shift starting at 5:00am (DAYS)

Salary: £12.71 per hour

We are looking for a full‑time Baker to join our Day Bakery Team at our Ascot Drive Bakery. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a passion for baking who enjoys working in a busy bakery environment and takes pride in producing high‑quality products.

Responsibilities

• You will play an important role in our daily production, helping ensure our bakery products are prepared, baked, and packed to the highest standards.
• Weigh and prepare ingredients accurately for bakery production.
• Operate bakery machinery, including mixing, baking, and packing equipment.
• Assist with the production of a variety of bakery products.
• Ensure products are prepared and presented to high quality standards.
• Maintain a clean, organised workspace while adhering to strict food hygiene and safety guidelines.
• Work efficiently to ensure dispatch deadlines are met.

Shifts

• 45 hours per week
• Day shift starting at 5:00am
• Required to work 1 in 5 Saturdays to support our 7‑day bakery operation.

Experience

• Demonstrate a good knowledge and understanding of machinery and handcrafted baking processes
• Be able to demonstrate pastry and confectionery skills such as piping and decorating to produce products to a high standard in an efficient, clean and tidy manner
• Observe the highest food hygiene guidelines to meet strict despatch deadlines

Qualifications
