RGR in Hounslow, near Heathrow, is hiring a Data Centre Infrastructure Technician (Cabling & Install) for a 24/7 continental days and nights shift. You will work on structured cabling, racking and stacking, and live data hall installs in a client-facing environment, ensuring compliance with change control and SLAs.

The role focuses on physical ICT installation rather than server support, with a permanent, full-time contract and a salary of £58,927 per annum.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in structured cabling and physical ICT installation (copper and fibre).
• Experience with racking and stacking, patching, cabinet installs and cable management.
• Comfortable working in live, change-controlled environments under permit-to-work systems.

Responsibilities

• Installing and terminating structured copper and fibre cabling with neat cable management.
• Racking, stacking, patching, cabinet builds/modifications, and decommissioning.
• Infrastructure installations and break-fix tasks per method statements and change control.
• Surveying ServiceNow requests to verify cabling and cabinet specs before install.
• Monitoring site systems (BMS, SCADA, VESDA) and escalating issues promptly.
• Keeping data halls, comms rooms and stock records clean and up to date.
• Liaising professionally with the client and Shift Leader to hit SLAs and KPIs.

Data Centre Infrastructure Technician (Cabling & Install) | Hounslow, Near Heathrow | Structured Cabling, Racking & Installation | Permanent | Continental Days & Night Shift Pattern | £58,927 per annum

We are recruiting for a Data Centre Infrastructure Technician to join a 24/7 shift team at a financial services data centre in Hounslow, near Heathrow Airport, working for a market-leading critical environments service provider.

This is a hands-on physical infrastructure role. You'll spend most of your shift on structured cabling, patching, racking and stacking, cabinet installs and modifications, and decommissioning in live data halls, working to strict client standards and SLAs. We're looking for technicians whose background is cabling and physical installation, not primarily server or hardware support.

Employment Package:

• Role: Data Centre Infrastructure Technician (Cabling & Install), shift based
• Status: Permanent, full time
• Shift pattern: Continental days and nights. 3 days, 3 nights (6 on), 4 off, 4 days, 6 off, 4 nights, 4 off.
• Salary: £58,927 per annum
• Holiday: 25 days pro rata

Key Duties:

• Installing and terminating structured copper and fibre cabling, with neat, compliant cable management
• Racking and stacking, patching, cabinet builds and modifications, and decommissioning
• Infrastructure installations and break-fix tasks, following method statements, change control and e-permits
• Surveying ServiceNow requests to check cabling, cable management and cabinet specs are correct before install
• Monitoring site systems (BMS, SCADA, VESDA and electrical/environmental alarm tools) and escalating issues quickly
• Keeping data halls, comms rooms and stock records clean, tidy and up to date
• Liaising professionally with the client and supporting the Shift Leader to hit SLAs and KPIs

Requirements:

• Proven experience in structured cabling and physical ICT installation (copper and fibre), ideally in a data centre or comms room environment
• Experience with racking and stacking, patching, cabinet installs and cable management
• Comfortable working in live, change-controlled environments under permit-to-work systems
• Willing to work a continental days and nights shift rotation
• Fibre termination/testing, cabling certifications or CNIDP/CDCTP preferred but not essential
• Good communication skills and a professional, client-facing manner
