Job summary

Harvey Nash in Edinburgh is seeking an experienced Oracle DBA for a 6-month contract as part of a large-scale digital transformation program. The role requires RAC/ASM, upgrades, and production-grade DB administration with strong HA and DR capabilities.

Hybrid work model available and Basic Disclosure Scotland may be required. The candidate should have 5+ years of Oracle DBA experience, including versions 9/10g, and may benefit from Oracle certifications and Azure DevOps knowledge.

Qualifications

• Experience administering Oracle DBs versions 9, 10, 11 in high availability environments.

• Participation in client/project meetings for needs assessment and design review.
• Ability to analyze needs and requirements of users for existing and proposed database systems.
• Design, develop, implement, and maintain databases for internal and external users/clients.
• Develop standards to monitor and enhance database capacity and performance.
• Coding and programming skills as necessary.
• Develop data import/export routines to automate data loading.
• Experience building windows, screens, and reports.
• Oracle certification such as Administrator Certified Associate/Professional (desirable).
• Azure DevOps (desirable).
• Experience with backups, business continuity, and disaster recovery techniques (RMAN, DataGuard, Commvault).
• Minimum 5 years of experience as an Oracle DBA in production.
• 5 to 7 years overall as an Oracle DBA, specifically with versions 9 and 10g.
• Solaris 9/10 Administration skills (preferable).
