Job summary

West Brom Building Society is expanding its Data Solutions Team and seeks a Systems Analyst to analyse and implement IT solutions, optimise data flows, and provide documentation to guide development. You will translate business needs into technical requirements, propose improvements, and collaborate with 3rd party suppliers while supporting testing and delivery to deadlines.

The role reports to the Data Solutions Analyst Manager and offers a salary around £42,000 per annum, 35 hours per week,

Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a Systems Analyst in a systems analysis environment
  • Strong understanding of the end-to-end software development life cycle and system design principles
  • Ability to translate business requirements into technical and data requirements
  • Experience creating technical documentation including system designs, technical specifications, and data models
  • Knowledge of metadata management and data lineage principles
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
  • Experience with data analysis and reporting tools such as Excel, Business Objects and SPSS
  • Experience coordinating with 3rd party suppliers and cross-functional teams
  • Ability to work under pressure and deliver to deadlines

Responsibilities

  • Assess impact of data and system change requests and identify gaps in as-is vs to-be landscapes
  • Design and document Application and Data Design Documents detailing required development changes
  • Create and maintain detailed documentation around systems, workflow and data models
  • Collaborate with Test Manager and Business SMEs to develop and execute test plans
  • Conduct testing and validation of data to ensure accuracy and integrity
  • Provide technical consultation for third-party supplier changes
  • Analyse incidents to determine root causes and required fixes

Salary: Circa £42,000 per annum dependent on skills and experience

Hours: 35 hours per week

Here at the West Brom we have a new opportunity available for a Systems Analyst within our Data Solutions Team reporting into the Data Solutions Analyst Manager. This is a key role within the team and will use both your technical expertise and business insight to analyse and implement new IT solutions or improve existing ones.

We are searching for a Systems Analyst to help us establish and optimise our information technology solutions. You will examine and analyse our systems and data flows to understand the processes and data flows and using these will carry out impact assessments to identify required changes to meet project deliverables documenting these in an Application and Data Design document to guide development.

Core Services:

Technical Feasibility – identify the impact and feasibility of technical and data change on existing or new systems and data flows.

System and Data Requirements – translate business requirements into technical and data requirements

Application and Data Modelling – develop and maintain technical artefacts for current IT systems and data models to understand their functionalities and processes.

Analysis and Design – carry out technical analysis to identify and design any system or data requirements required to implement change or incident management to produce an Application and Data Design Document.

System and Data Engineering – analyse current system and data processes to identify inefficiencies and recommend improvements via automation, streamlining or integration to reduce costs, improve productivity and enhance system performance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Investigate and analyse existing IT systems and data models to understand their functionality and processes aligning them with business processes.
  • Consult with key stakeholders and business analysts to translate business requirements into system and data requirements.
  • Analyse the impact of system and data change requests, identifying any gaps between the as-is and to-be landscape to understand the technical feasibility of the proposed solutions
  • In consultation with software developers, identify and design system or data changes to produce an Application and Data Design Document that will detail the specific development changes required to meet project deliverables or resolve IT incidents.
  • Create and maintain detailed documentation around systems, workflow and data models including technical specifications, system processes and data flow diagrams to represent the structure, flow, dependencies, relationships and mapping of data.
  • Collaborate with Test Manager and Business SMEs to develop and execute test plans related to data and system functionalities.
  • Conduct testing and validation of data to ensure accuracy and integrity.
  • Provide technical consultation for Third Party Supplier change requests.
  • Analyse any incidents reported via the Service Desk or in-flight project issues to establish the root-cause, identifying any required changes for development to resolve.
Essential Skills and Experience:
  • Previous experience as a System Analyst is required with a proven practical experience gained within a system analysis environment, including experience of working with a range of analysis tools and techniques.
  • A high level of understanding of the end-to-end software development life cycle and system design principles.
  • Require strong technical, problem-solving and analytical skills to deconstruct complex system, data and reporting models.
  • Can understand at a detailed level how software applications support business operations, and how data supports these processes and operations.
  • Experience in creating technical documentation including system designs, technical specifications, system and data models.
  • Clear understanding of metadata management including data lineage principles.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate technical information to non-technical stakeholders and convey business concepts to technical teams.
  • You will have skills in SQL (ideally Oracle PL/SQL) as well as relevant experience with data analysis and reporting tools such as Microsoft Excel, Business Objects and SPSS
  • Experience in working in cross-functional teams and in particular experience of working with and co-ordinating 3rd Party Suppliers.
  • Ability to work under pressure, efficiently and in a timely manner with experience in delivering to deadlines.
