Job summary

Northumberland County Council in Morpeth is seeking an innovative Data Scientist to harness advanced analytics to improve population health outcomes and reduce inequalities. You will work with Python, SQL, Power BI and geospatial tools to create actionable insights from complex linked datasets.

The role is a 2 year fixed term contract and involves collaborating across services to support targeted interventions and better resource allocation for communities facing the greatest inequalities.

Qualifications

• Deliver data science work from problem definition through modelling and recommendations.
• Apply strong statistical and analytical skills to complex, sensitive, and sometimes incomplete datasets.
• Has experience writing Python and SQL to prepare data, develop models and create reproducible analysis.
• Communicate complex findings, uncertainty and risk clearly to senior leaders, operational teams and other non-technical audiences.
